CARIAD AWARDS

The college Cariad awards were introduced on the 14 th February, 2020. The concept was introduced to recognise the excellent work that our learners do which quite often goes unnoticed. To be the recipient of an award, a nomination is submitted, considered, and presented to the worthy winner. The awards are carved out of wood by our carpentry learners at our Ammanford Campus, and then painted by the painting and decorating learners. Winners also receive a Cariad badge, and their details are added to the Cariad Google site. With permission, we also release the news via our college social media channels. We have multiple award winners to date, from learners who helped in their communities over the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown periods, to staff who have raised money for charity, and for those who have made a difference to people’s lives by displaying a ‘random act of kindness’. As part of Cariad, as a college, we choose a national charity, and a charity for each of our seven campuses which are local or relevant. To date, our national charities have included Wales Air Ambulance and the Breast Care Unit at Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli. Our campus based charities have included the Jac Lewis Foundation in Ammanford, the DPJ Foundation in Gelli Aur, Hospice at Home Volunteering (HAHAV) at Aberystwyth, West Wales Domestic Abuse Service in Cardigan, Arts Care in Jobs Well, MIND Cymru in Pibwrlwyd and the RNLI at the Graig. We also support traditional charity events such as Children in Need, Comic Relief, Sport Relief, Movember and so on. Could you be a Cariad in 2024/25?
